外科歴史博物館「日本外科殿堂」がオープン 日本外科殿堂 (The Japan Room) 紹介 外科殿堂顕彰者 中山恒明賞受賞者　Nakayama Komei Prize Winners The Young Investigator Award 受賞者 外科歴史博物館「日本外科殿堂」がオープン 国際外科学会シカゴ本部外科歴史博物館は、シカゴ市中心部よりややはずれた、ミシガン湖を見渡せる絶好の場所に建っています。 内部には外科の歴史を一般の方に広く知ってもらう目的で、さまざまな企画・展示が行われています。 外科歴史博物館内の「日本外科殿堂」は、2005年3月19日に改装を終了し、新たにオープンを迎えました。19日当日のシカゴの空は快晴となり、日中の気温はこの季節としては暖かい摂氏8度前後となり、過ごしやすい1日となりました。 午後5時より内覧会がスタートし、シカゴ在住の日本人・日系人・米国人合わせて200名以上の方々が博物館を訪れました。 日本からも、華岡青洲生誕地である和歌山県那賀町から東健兒町長以下8名の方々がおいでになりました。 午後6時から、国際外科学会executive directorであるMax Downham氏の司会で、オープニング式典が開始されました。 外科歴史博物館・国際外科学会の歴史・背景など簡単に紹介された後、国際外科学会前世界会長であり外科歴史博物館館長をされているRaymond Dieter氏から、日本外科殿堂オープンに対してお祝いの言葉をいただきました。 次にシカゴ総領事である吉田豊氏からお祝いの言葉をいただいた後、和歌山県那賀町町長の東健兒氏より華岡青洲先生ご業績の紹介とご挨拶をいただき、式典も盛大のうち終了いたしました。 日本外科殿堂 (The Japan Room) 紹介 喧騒な市中心部よりやや北にはずれた閑静な地域に、国際外科学会本部に隣接してInternational Museum of Surgical Scienceがあります。 ミシガン湖を望む美しいほとりにたたずむ博物館内には、世界各国から集められた外科に関する逸品が陳列されています。 国際外科学会は「すべてメスを持つ者の会」であることから、一般外科、消化器外科、胸部外科、心臓血管外科、産婦人科、泌尿器科、脳神経外科、整形外科、形成外科、小児外科、耳鼻咽喉科、眼科、麻酔科、放射線科等あらゆる分野にまたがって陳列が行われています。 博物館をひと回りすれば、外科の歴史や各科における歴史的変遷・発展が理解できるように工夫されています。さまざまな国が、その国での外科の歴史的変遷・発展を陳列しており、日本も以前よりThe Japan Roomにて陳列を行ってきました。 その陳列内容は多岐にわたっており、国際外科学会日本部会の活動を紹介するために、歴代会長・役員のネームボードを陳列しています。またYoung Investigator Awardのコーナーを新設し、受賞者のネームボードを陳列しています。 日本の外科の発展および国際外科学会の発展にもご尽力された中山恒明先生のコーナーでは、中山先生の銅像、中山先生の業績のご案内、中山恒明賞受賞者のネームボードが陳列されています。 世界に先駆けて全身麻酔下での手術を成功させた華岡青洲の記念コーナーが設けられており、華岡青洲の業績を説明する掲示と肖像画が陳列されています。 部屋の中央部の床には富士山をあしらった絨毯があり、部屋の雰囲気を高めています。窓側には外科吻合器の歴史コーナーがあり、古今東西の消化管吻合器が集められています。 縫合糸コーナー（縫合糸の歴史の展示）、超音波装置コーナー（超音波検査装置の開発の展示）、世紀の外科医コーナー（日本の外科の発展・日本が世界に誇るoriginalityのある仕事をされた医師を顕彰するコーナー）なども魅力ある展示です。 外科殿堂顕彰者 The First Successful Pancreatography in the World Itaru Ooi, MD, M.D., Ph.D. The Birth of the Gastrocamera The Gastrocamera Team Applications of Thermography in Neurosurgery Morikazu Ueda, M.D., Ph.D. The First Institution to Perform 1000 Pancreatoduodenectomies Institute of Gastroenterology, Tokyo Women's Medical University Systemic Subsegmentectomy and Hepatectomies Preserving the Inferior Right Hepatic Vein Masatoshi Makuuchi, M.D., Ph.D. Kasai's Procedure Morio Kasai, M.D., Ph.D. The Birth of Ultrasound Diagnosis Toshio Wagai, M.D Successful Endoscopic Examination of The Entire Gastrointestinal Tract by The Ropeway Method (Docking of The Enteroscope and The Colonoscope) Hideo Hiratsuka, M.D., Ph.D. 2006 "No.21 Arthroscope" Kenji Takagi, MD & Masaki Watanabe, MD 2006 Kyoto University, School of Medicine "Total resection of the right lobe of the liver on Hepatopancreatic Surgery" Ichio Honjyo, MD 2007 Establishment of radical hysterectomy(Okabayashi's method) Hidekazu Okabayashi, MD 2007 Male sexual dysfunction Masafumi Shirai, M.D., Ph.D. 2010 Fifty Years Experience with Esophageal Cancer - Esophagolaryngectomy with Immediate Pharyngogastrostomy Teruo Kakegawa, M.D., Ph.D. 2010 The World's First Replantation of Completely Amputated Thumb, Transplantation of Skeletal Muscle in Dogs, and Replantation of Completely Amputated Penis Susumu Tamai, M.D., Ph.D. 2012 First developed the technique of percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) for acute obstructive suppurative cholangitis (AOSC).
